Twenty years — from the restaurant floor and the tarmac, through the crossing into people work, to a practice that publishes its method. Not a résumé. A provenance: the line runs operations first, people second, and that order is the point. I learned how work actually lands before I was ever asked to change it.
600+ restaurants, then national fleet presentation and the A380 entry. What the frontline does with what head office sends it.
From running the work to building the people who run it. 7,000+ employees; a 400-leader programme through major change.
OD by project — post-acquisition alignment for 2,200. A bounded engagement with a lasting lesson: structure follows clarity.
The generalist decade: the industrial agenda, then Treasury as generalist and OD, then partnering at 13,000+ scale.
Operating models for an all-of-government contract; then an 8,000-employee integration — Day 1 live, no disputes. And where AI entered my practice.
An HR turnaround, led AI-enabled from the inside — and a practice published in the open. The learning becomes cases; the cases become the method.

National programmes across 600+ KFC restaurants, then Qantas fleet presentation — service standards, cost control, and a lead role in the A380 entry. The lesson that runs under everything since: systems and change land at the frontline or they don’t land at all.

The pivot: National Manager, Organisational Development across 7,000+ employees, designing a national frontline leadership programme for 400+ leaders through major operational and technology change. Leadership stopped being a quality of individuals and became an operational system.

The specialist proving ground — engaged after the Commonwealth Bank acquisition to align leadership expectations, organisation design and capability for a 2,200-person retail workforce. A bounded engagement with an unbounded lesson: structure follows clarity, and a designer’s job is to leave the design owned by the line.

The first generalist chair at Gate Gourmet — Head of HR & Learning across ANZ, carrying the enterprise agreement agenda. Then NSW Treasury, generalist and OD in one seat: engagement to the 75th percentile, retention from 60% to 80%, culture moved from consultant-led to leader-owned. Then Transport for NSW — partnering at 13,000+ in a safety-critical system.

Home to South Australia. Operating-model and strategic workforce planning on Ventia’s all-of-government facilities contract; then the Integration Management Office for the new Adelaide University — end-to-end workforce transition for ~2,000 staff inside an 8,000-employee merger, and Day 1 live, with no disputes. This was also where augmentation entered my own practice.
An HR turnaround: senior People & Culture leadership for a ~2,000-person scientific and clinical workforce in the SA public sector — full business-as-usual carried from day one while realigning the partnering model, AI-enabled from the inside. Twenty years of learning, now activated as open, de-identified cases anyone can read before they engage.
This isn’t a résumé, because the practice doesn’t sell a résumé. It sells judgement — and judgement can be inspected. Every stop on the line produced learning; every piece of learning is being activated as a published, de-identified case set at Ironbark, a fictional composite organisation.
De-identification isn’t a limitation — it’s the discipline. Real organisations lent me the learning; none of them lent me their name. If the method doesn’t persuade you on paper, don’t buy it in person.

Eleven modules — the operations core of the craft, distilled from the generalist decade into a working toolkit.
/practice/fundamentalsTwelve examinations — dates, thresholds and primary sources, held to the standard the frames demand.
/practice/deep-divesThe codified layer is exactly where augmentation lands first. What a practitioner once held in memory, an augmented partner holds on demand — which frees the human work for the parts that were never codifiable: judgement, weather, trust.
Every page here — seventy-eight of them, one design system, one voice — was written, designed and built by me, working with AI in the loop. No agency, no template, no content team. The frames, the cases and the judgement are mine; the drafting, the pattern-checking and the front-end were done the way the capability case on this site argues they should be done.
I mention it for one reason. The claim that a skilled practitioner can lift their own capacity and the quality of their output with these tools is easy to make and hard to evidence. This is the evidence I can hand you, and you are reading it.
Twenty years, de-identified into a method you can read before you buy. When you’re ready, the way in is a friendly conversation — nothing more committing than that to start.
The line runs operations first, people second — and it’s still being written. Start the conversation →
